Over a dozen houses were damaged by the 6.4-magnitude earthquake that rattled Davao Oriental, a province in the Philippines located in the Davao Region in Mindao.
The Philippines is located on the Ring of Fire, a large area of the Pacific. Due to its unfavorable geographic location, Philippines often suffers from natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, or volcanic eruptions, with significant human and material losses.
This video shows the scene inside ER Supermall in Mati when the tremors happened. The quake struck at around 3:20 pm in the afternoon.

Earthquakes are frequent occurrences in this country. So, the government of Philippines has begun building a "backup city" called New Clark City, where government agencies can still work if the capital of Manila can not cope with natural disasters.
